Kennett Square Historic District established 1989



The Kennett Borough Historical Commission helped owners of homes or businesses within the historic district research and apply for bronze markers that identify the original owner and the year of construction.

The Kennett Square Historic District was entered onto the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. A link to the original nomination document:

In 2008 the Historical Commission identified the need to raise awareness of the boundaries of the Historic District and more effectively communicate its importance. This district had been identified by four old, wooden signs located at the four gateways into the borough. The commission has replaced them with bronze markers; two in the spring of 2009, partially funded by a grant from the Mushroom Festival and two in the spring of 2010.
